Education& Learning Post: Chris's success story
Tutors: Shireen Kukkady and Rajika Vyas.
Chris Bryant tells his own story:
As a mature person who works part time 15
hours per week I was looking for options that would
allow me to study around my work hours. I was
researching distance learning on the internet and
Learning Post was one of the institutions offering
On visiting the Learning Post web site
www.learningpost.ac.nz, I saw they offered com-
puter programmes part-time or fulltime from Level
3 to Diploma Level. The area of study I decided upon
was the Certificate in Web Authoring and Database
During the enrolment process I was supported
with completing of the application forms. The next
step was to have a phone interview -- this was to
confirm my ability to successfully complete the
course and to identify any other issues that may
impact on my ability to complete the programme.
A week before the course commenced my first
pack of study material arrived. I found the study
material to be of high quality and encountered no
difficulties in its use.
As each module neared completion the next pack
of study material arrived. A postage paid addressed
envelope was provided with each pack to return
work for marking. The marking of assessments had
a quick turn around which allowed for a smooth
Throughout this whole process I was contacted
regularly by the tutor to discuss how I was doing.
Overall the course flowed along fairly smoothly. Any
problems I had my tutors were just an email or
phone call away, and promptly dealt with.
Being able to study at any time is a bonus of
distance learning, as long as you have good time
management. I was able to complete two hours of
study before work and then complete more in the
evenings. As I was only working part time three
days per week I also had two full days available for
I would recommend Learning Post to any person
who is wanting to upskill or generally gain a quali-
fication that would enhance their employment
opportunities in the future - after all one has to be
computer savvy with the way technology is today. I
for one plan to study again with Learning Post, this
time to enrol in the Diploma in IT Support.''
