Blending work and study
Help is near: Learning Post tutors
Shireen and Rajika.
As a mature person working 15
hours per week, Chris Bryant was
looking for options that would
allow him to study around his
work hours. This is his story.
I was researching distance
learning on the internet, and
Learning Post was one of the
institutions offering this option.
On visiting their website I saw
they offered computer pro-
grammes part-time or full-time
from Level 3 to Diploma Level.
The area of study I decided upon
was the Certificate in Web Auth-
oring and Database Design.

commenced my first pack of study
material arrived. I found the
study material to be of high qual-

in using it.
As each module neared com-
pletion the next pack of study
material arrived. A postage paid
addressed envelope was provided
with each pack to return work for
marking. The marking of
assessments had a quick turn
around which allowed for a

I was contacted regularly by my
tutor to discuss how I was doing.
Overall the course flowed along
fairly smoothly. Any problems I
had my tutors were just an email
or phone call away, and promptly
Being able to study at any time
is a bonus of distance learning, as
long as you have good time man-
agement. I was able to complete
two hours of study before work
and then complete more in the
evenings. As I was only working
part time three days per week I
also had two full days available
