Manukau Symphony Orchestra
plays homage to musical genius in
its latest concert.
On May 19 the orchestra will
take a step back to a time when
now revered composers were
young and just making their mark
on the musical landscape.
And Papakura Courier readers

To modern ears, Beethoven's
Symphony No 2 in D Major
sounds as Beethoven is expected
to sound but to his contemporaries
the sudden juxtapositions of loud
and soft and his syncopated musi-
cal jokes were shocking and sev-
eral critics reviled him in print.
But the genius bowed neither to
the critics nor to his encroaching
deafness and people today are
able to enjoy and marvel at the
