Never neglect your teeth!
John Bell: Providing dental services in
Papakura for over 30 years.
Good dentistry is expensive, but poor
dentistry is very expensive,'' Papakura
dentist John Bell observes.
John's in a position to know, having
seen many cases where people have
neglected their teeth or chosen cheap
quick fix options -- and paid a high
price as a result.
John says preventive maintenance
is the key to keeping your teeth
healthy and your dental bills down.
Dental checkups are like the servicing
of your car -- you can neglect them for
a while, but the short term gain will
lead to long term pain and increased
Good teeth are an essential part of
your overall health. When you have
poor or missing teeth your food is not
properly masticated and this can make
it difficult for the digestive system to
cope. The more missing or defective
teeth you have, the worse the problem
Furthermore gum disease, often
associated with unhealthy teeth, has
been linked to heart disease. Bacteria
in the mouth can encourage the
growth of plaque in the blood vessels --
a forerunner of heart disease.
John Bell provides all general dental
and specialist prosthodontic services,
replacing missing, broken and heavily
filled teeth with crowns, bridges,
implants or dentures.
Implants are the most secure and
permanent way to replace missing
teeth, suitable for any age. A patient
aged 86 has had her dentition restored
with implant supported crowns.
Implants also help patients who
experience difficulty with full dentures
as implants can improve the stability
and efficiency of dentures. The
increased stability also leads to
greater social confidence as well.
After gaining his degree in New Zea-
land and undertaking post-graduate
study in London, John established his
dental practice in Papakura. That was
over 30 years ago, and he has been
serving the community ever since. He
is the sole dentist at the practice, cap-
ably assisted by international staff.
Appointments can be made with John
Bell at Suite 3, 319-321 Great South
Rd, Papakura. Phone 298 3502 or email
