Bradley Pillay has taken on the role of serving the local community as Owner--Optometrist and he is excited about the opportunity to care for his patients' vision through new state-of-the-art scanning technologies. With 11 years' experience as an optometrist behind him, Bradley is delighted to now be running a New Zealand owned and independ- ently operated practice. He has worked at Visique Papakura over the last year and is pleased to offer the local community a service that he believes is second to none. Together with the clinical team made up of Ngaire, Christine and Sarah, Bradley o ers comprehensive eye care, taking the time to ensure patients leave the practice understanding more about their eye health than when they came in. One of Bradley's special interests is advanced contact lens fittings. In particular, kerataconus and corneal graft patients provide a unique challenge that he is eager to take on. The trickier, the better! A Corneal Topographer enables him to diagnose common corneal conditions, which can result in poor vision that cannot be corrected by glasses alone. This advanced piece of equipment provides a high definition 3D scan of the front surface of the eye, which is necessary for any accurate contact lens fitting. An Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT) is the latest advancement in imaging technology that will be available to Visique Papakura from November. Using infrared laser scanning technology, early detection of eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and retinal detachment is possible. This is crucial to prevent irreversible vision loss. Think of it as a CT scan for the eye! Early identification of problems is also key to his success with assisting students towards achieving better learning outcomes. Bradley has always had an interest in children's learning and related visual issues. Together with Papakura's local Kip McGrath many children have been able to improve their eyesight and learning potential through the combination of prescription glasses or contact lenses and various learning pro- grammes such as Cellfield Therapy or Irlen's tints for dyslexia. Whether you have a specific concern about your vision or simply think it's time for a check up, give the team at Visique Papakura a call and book an eye exam with Bradley today. Come see the di erence!
